Senior PV Solar Designer
Senior PV Solar Designer is responsible for the electrical design from PV modules to utility point of interconnection on projects up to 10MW. The role involves project design and oversight of designs of junior level engineers. The Senior Designer is expected to have a wide range of experience, varying from building industry and Code-based knowledge, to applied electrical engineering in DC and AC distribution. Candidates will have strong problem solving skills, being able to apply professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues and unexpected engineering barriers. Candidates will have strong design, communication, and creative problem solving skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Preparation and oversight of project electrical design drawings complete with supporting calculations, including single line schematics, DC wiring schematics, electrical site plans, and equipment layouts.
Oversee and manage a group of junior electrical design engineers to complete multiple projects. Manage several electrical design consultants to meet project workload.
Project development activities: Site audits, identification of electrical design opportunities and constraints, preparation of proposal and project specification documents, evaluation and recommendation of major electrical components.
Interaction with electric utilities to become familiar with specific codes to interconnect PV solar plants to the national grids.
Interaction with existing and prospective vendors of major equipment, such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, electrical cable, etc.
Evaluation of new commercial and utility PV industry products, including inverters and combiner boxes.
Interaction with electrical contractors on job sites to answer questions, review change requests, revise designs as needed to accommodate unanticipated field conditions, etc.
Support operation and maintenance personnel with electrical related expertise
Interaction with field inspectors and plan checkers to evaluate proposed design methodology, with thorough Code knowledge and application
Requirements Knowledge/Skills
Thorough knowledge of the NEC as it relates to commercial and industrial power systems design
Knowledge of NEC Article 690 preferred
Knowledge of electrical design, materials and methods of installation in power systems
Knowledge of distribution and/or transmission design is a plus
Proficient in power systems analysis software is a plus
Proficient (or Advanced User) with AutoCAD and generating detailed construction drawings
Highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects
Good communication skills

Advanced Technician & Special Projects Coordinator
The Advanced Technician & Special Projects Coordinator has four general areas of responsibility:
Warranty service and resolution of system performance issues
All aspects of inverter monitoring systems
Non grid-tied projects, e.g.: solar water heating, off-grid applications, and non-PV auxiliary projects
IT and office technology
Qualifications and Credentials:
All of the following are preferred. At least two are required for consideration:
C-10, C-46, or B License in good standing
Bachelors or graduate degree in physics, chemistry mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or equivalent science-based discipline from an accredited university
NABCEP PV Installer Certification
NABCEP Solar Thermal Installer Certification
Work Experience and Skills:
At least two years employment with an established solar integrator
At least two years advanced hands-on installation experience in all aspects of the PV installation process
Lead installer of at least three installations of large (50kW or more) commercial inverters
Monitoring systems expertise: installation, configuring, troubleshooting, service, repair and warranty experience with inverters from all major manufacturers
Advanced hands-on solar design and installation training from SunPower University, Solar Energy International, Solar Living Institute or equivalent training provider
Additional Preferred Experience and Skills:
SWH installation training and experience (batch, drainback and draindown systems; sweat copper pipe; work with PEX tubing; set up control systems; start up new installations)
Off-grid system design and installation experience
Building performance training from PG&E or other equivalent program
Supervision and management experience
Expertise with hydraulic conduit benders and other commercial electrical installation equipment

Solar Construction Project Administrator
Our Project Administrators Coordinates the construction processes from the conceptual development stage through final construction on a timely and economical basis; coordinates planning, scheduling, bid solicitation and review.
Responsible for managing all project-related contracts, including budget, schedule, cost tracking and ensuring all conditions in the contract are met.
Receives requests; obtains estimates; updates records, initiates paperwork and follows up on request for approval of work not previously covered in the contract; processes and obtains approval of contract changes.
Interprets contract provisions to help resolve claims and questions submitted by contractors.
Monitors compliance of contract requirements ensuring all conditions are satisfied before approval of the final invoice.
Initiates and/or conducts meetings with contractors concerning contractual problems as requested by Construction Project Manager.
Establishes and updates records of all correspondence related to contract activity.
Assists in compiling and preparing bid documents and bidders list, including inquiry preparations, request for bids and recommendations for award of contract.
Maintains regular communication with field coordinators/design project manager to ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules.
Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team
Regularly reports on status of projects, either in person or through written reports/correspondence.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Four to six years related experience.
Practical construction knowledge with the ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, and plans.
Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word and Excel. Timberline proficiency is preferred.
