Staff Attorney
Job Activities:
Prosecutes key lawsuits, under the supervision of the legal director.
Implements strategic, programmatic legal campaigns to support Clean Energy objectives; helps coordinate and supervise legal work of strategic legal campaigns.
Helps evaluate proposed litigation to advise national volunteer and staff leadership on the scope of participation in legal actions.
Helps supervise and administer ongoing litigation and maintain its energy-related docket; helps troubleshoot legal cases.
Helps develop and plan programmatic litigation campaigns to support Clean Energy featured objective.
Analyzes legal cases and trends for management and membership.
Serves as legal resource for membership; helps chapters and groups with their local energy-related legal programs and objectives.
Helps fundraise for Environmental Law Program.
Develops training, informational, educational, and fundraising materials for Environmental Law Program.
Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.
Requirements:
J.D. degree and license to practice law, with four or more years experience in the energy law field, including experience with FERC and state utility commission proceedings.
Excellent writing and analytic skills.
Strong interpersonal and consensus building skills.
Strong planning and management skills.
Knowledge of energy law (i.e. FERC, state utilities law) and environmental law.
